Forty Rules of Love

‘Life is a temporary loan, and this world is nothing but a sketchy imitation of Reality. Only children would mistake a toy for the real thing. And yet human beings either become infatuated with the toy or disrespectfully break it and throw it aside. In this life stay away from all kinds of extremities, for they will destroy your inner balance. Muslims do not go to extremes. A Muslim always remains mild and moderate.”  – Forty Rules of Love

I swapped the word Sufi here with Muslim, because Sufism is the Soul of Islam, a large focus is on its inward dimension, ( going beyond forms/words, disciplining the self and nurturing the spirit to attain Divine Love , to become one with God ) and muslims are advised to live this deen (way of life: religion) in moderation.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised us: “Moderation. Moderation. Moderation. Religion is very easy and whoever burdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, afternoons and during the last hours of the nights.”

Worship of the One – a taste of heaven on earth.
