Reality Check

Reality check.

Train ride to next destination delayed because of suicide on the tracks. Someone a few minutes earlier ended their life by jumping in front of a moving train.

Apparently this happens frequently in big European cities.

At which point does someone want to do that? To check out of life is to reach a stage of total depression and misery – to have no hope and no faith left, in life and in humanity.

Europe is beautiful. I’m amazed by this continent well equipped for a great living, yet it has such a high rate of depression and suicide compared to other poorer countries. In my opinion a lot of things are better off here than in the Middle East. We Middle Eastern’s have regressed in many ways, lost our politeness and smile in the face of our fellow beings, but our family ties are still intact and when we see someone in distress or in need of help, we still stop and help, and not keep our nose to ourself. Which for me is a very precious thing.

In times of progressive living just keep aware of life’s pressure, and remember if you take care of you all else will be taken care of.

  1. Rightly said! Apparently, that’s how it has been manifested through a hadith:
    ” الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ ، ارْحَمُوا أَهْلَ الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ “
