Islam; a way of life.
In this way of life we have the example of the most perfect man’s way of conduct from manners to love to business to ethics to day to day living. This is a big blessing for the believing community. In fact, everything the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us has now been proven by science.
Water. How do you drink your water?
Gulp it from a big bottle mainly. Yes, I love water. It’s hands down my favourite drink. Gulping water is actually not quenching my thirst but causing more harm to my gut and intestine, and it is not providing relief to my thirst. He (pbuh) advised us to not drink water while standing up and not drink it in large gulps rather Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) advised us:
Do not drink directly from a water pitcher (or any water container). Do not drink water only in one breath, but drink it in two or three breaths. Sit down and drink your water.
Science now proves: that when a person drinks too much water in a short period of time, the kidneys cannot flush it out fast enough and the blood becomes waterlogged, which can, strangely, become a cause of death. Moreover, science now proves that drinking water whilst standing or walking can cause Gastrointestinal Tract (GIT) damage, kidney damage, arthritis, nerve tension and other disorders. Drinking water in one gulp can cause choking of esophagus, it especially weakens the muscles and nerves. It is also very harmful as well as damaging for the liver and stomach.
He (peace be upon him) went further to explain and advise us:
Do not blow from your mouth into food and water.
Science shows that exhaling CO2 into a glass of water causes it to react and form carbonic acid that can disturb our internal environment causing a pH change. This, in worse condition, can lead to ‘Acidosis’ (a condition where the blood has too much acid, or a very low base, and often causes decreased blood pH).
Of course, a believer always commences the act of drinking or eating (and anything for that matter) with the name of God: Bismillah and ends with showing gratitude to the gifts of Allah: Al Hamdullilah.
Indeed I am grateful for this deen/ religion/ way of life that everyday proves itself to be the word of Our Creator, The Al-Mighty, Praised and Glory be to Him.
And remind, for indeed, the reminder benefits the believers.” – Quran [51:55]
