Some people attempt to forget and avoid the certainty of death, as if sleeping through life provides them with a flourishing existence. They believe that thinking about death will ruin their present moment. In fact, it is through reflecting on death that life acquires meaning, and this meaning translates into a deep appreciation of our greatest hidden blessing.
Our breath.
Contemplating death – everyday – is a common spiritual practice. Entering a state of non-existence is a method for us to WAKE UP. The goal is to ‘BE’. Also the goal is to be more appreciative to our lived moments and the preciousness of them, because no moment repeats itself. Moreover it enables us to be more aware of our mortality; transforming our automated existence and enabling us to live the days with more presence, ultimately this leads to higher understanding and freedom from fear of death.
So whether we choose to face the impermanence of life and/ or the certainty of death, let us remember that even if we forget about death, death does not forget about us. ☺️
