In 1984 he set out to warn his own society about its own trends – sophisticated meaningless entertainment, and empty headed news reports.. all referencing freedom. Orwell understood the clever and scary system; the all-present screens which both addict and watch over the people, subtle enslaving methods.
People however don’t feel enslaved, because it smartly gives them the sense and the feeling that they are free.
