The culture of mystical Islam flourished in the Persian speaking lands, from Turkey to the northwest Iran, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. At that time it was respected, almost mainstream phenomenon, characterized by a sense of the sacred, an appreciation of the dignity of a human being, and a high degree of spiritual refinement. The Quran asserts that Adam, the archetypal human being, was uniquely endowed by God with an understanding of the Divine Names- that is the fundamental components of reality. Everything in the manifest world is compromised of its own proportions of these Divine attributes. To see the world in this way is to see through appearances and recognize an underlying spiritual reality that gives birth to all.

As it is said in the Quran, God has “honored the children of Adam” [Quran 17:70] and each human being has the inherent capacity to know the whole reality and experience the immense dimensions of Divine Love.
