For this sacred month and Islamic New Year, I share with you heart moving thoughts by Imam Ali, an inspiring, admirable and spiritual man, one dear to and loved by God, and muslims across the globe. May we remember, practice and live by them; and may we, the muslims, begin to embrace our deen and share its pearls.
- Hate no one, no matter how much they have wronged you. Live humbly, no matter how wealthy you become. Think positively, no matter how hard life is. Give much, even if you are given little. Keep in touch with the ones who have forgotten you, forgive those who wronged you and pray for the best for those you love.
- Awaken your hear to kindness and mercy for the people and love and tenderness for them, because people fall in two categories: they are either your brethren in faith or your equals in humanity.
- Contentment is the capital which will never diminish.
- The nourishment of the body is food, while the nourishment of the soul is feeding others.
- Be like a flower that gives its fragrance even to the hands that crushes it.
- Speak only when your words are more beautiful than silence.
- If the eyes of a female cry over a man that oppressed her, Angels will curse him with every step.
- Do not use sharpness of speech on the mothers who taught you how to speak.
- A moment of patience in a moment of anger prevents a thousand moments of regret.
- Life consists of two days, one for you, one against you. So when it is for you don’t be proud or reckless, and when it is against you be patient, for both days are a test for you.
- The best deed of a great human is to forgive and forget.
- Live amongst people in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you are alive they crave your company.
